Playing In The Shadows
When Example hinted he was aiming towards a mix of dancehall, electronic, and dubstep for album three, it wasn’t his usual Twitter shit-chatting. It’s a “dark, epic beast”, but this may well be its downfall. You’ll be put in such an emotional trance for half the album it feels like you’re listening to an electro Coldplay. However, hats off for experimentation. He’s mixed electro, dubstep, rap, drum’n’bass, even trance, using guitars, keyboards, a piano and just his own vocal chords. And he might also be pop’s most interesting voice.
